The rumble of the storm. The flash of the lightning. And the reflection of it all, In her eyes.
On the porch they sit. Watching the storm. She seems mesmerized by it. She is entranced by the lightning. Hypnotized by the falling rain.
Quietly he leaves for a few minutes. When he returns he finds her in the same position. He places a hand on her right shoulder, expecting her to jump. He is surprised when she does not. With his hand still on her, He stares into the storm trying to find what is so fascinating. He then feels a hand on his He looks down and sees her jade coloured eyes. A tear in one eye, or was it rain? He kneels before her still looking into her eyes. And asks what is wrong.
She caresses his cheek.. And moves the hair from his face. She smiles her soft smile, And runs a finger down the side of his face. "Always worried about me my love." She smiles into his eyes as he looks up at her. Before he can answer her she stands. And motions for him to do so as well. As he stands she kisses him, The softest most passion filled kiss he has felt in a long time. " Come let's walk." She pulls him out into the rain. Hand in hand they walk together through the rain and mud.
Until they reach a large field. She looks at him and smiles. He looks at her. At her jade eyes, Her red lips, And her soft long wet hair. He cannot help but smile.
She bites her lower lip and takes his hand. Once more leading leading him, into the field. In the center of the field she stops. Lightning flashes brilliantly. "I had a dream last night my love." up at him she looks, "I saw my death in your arms." He assures her it was only a dream nothing more. She smiles and puts her ear to his heart, Wrapping her arms around him.
He holds her close, One hand at the small of her back, The other caressing the back of her head. "How much do you love me?" she asks, Her eyes closed. "More than life itself" he tells her. With that she jumps into his arms in tears. And they kiss one last time.
The lightning flashes. The thunder roars. And when the smoke clears, The lovers are no more.
The heavens had opened. And the lovers felt the kiss. The kiss of lightning. Locking them together in a kiss, Unending
